Position Overview

WhiteWater Express Car Wash is seeking an experienced Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to lead and elevate the company’s safety strategy across a growing multi-state operation.

This role is responsible for building scalable safety programs, strengthening operational accountability, ensuring OSHA and regulatory compliance, and creating practical solutions that support both safety and business operations. The Director will partner closely with Operations, HR, Facilities, and field leadership to drive a safety-first culture while balancing operational realities in a fast-moving environment.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting high-volume, multi-site operations such as retail, restaurant, hospitality, automotive service, logistics, manufacturing, or similar field-driven industries with large frontline workforces.

This leader must be comfortable operating with urgency, navigating complex field situations, influencing leaders at all levels, and developing practical, sustainable processes that improve safety performance without disrupting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the company-wide EH&S strategy across multiple states and locations
  • Build scalable safety programs, operational standards, and compliance processes that support rapid organizational growth
  • Partner directly with Operations leadership to drive accountability, consistency, and execution of safety expectations in the field
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, electrical safety, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Develop practical, operationally effective solutions to safety challenges while maintaining compliance and minimizing operational disruption
  • Conduct field audits, safety inspections, and operational assessments across multiple sites
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and regulatory reporting
  • Analyze safety metrics, trends, and risk indicators to proactively reduce incidents and operational exposure
  • Develop and implement training programs that engage frontline employees, field leadership, and support teams
  • Oversee lockout/tagout programs, electrical safety procedures, and hazard mitigation efforts
  • Establish clear accountability standards and performance expectations related to safety execution
  • Coach, influence, and develop field leaders to strengthen ownership of safety and operational compliance
  • Support new site openings, acquisitions, and operational changes with proactive risk assessments and safety planning
  • Travel regularly to field locations to support operations, reinforce standards, and maintain leadership visibility

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading EH&S programs in fast-paced, multi-site operational environments
  • Strong field leadership presence with the ability to hold teams accountable while building credibility and trust
  • Experience supporting large frontline employee populations, including younger workforces in customer-facing operations
  • Ability to balance operational needs with regulatory compliance while developing practical, solution-oriented approaches
  • Strong process-development and change-management capabilities
  • Comfortable operating in environments that require urgency, adaptability, and decisive leadership
  • Strong conflict resolution, communication, and coaching skills
  • Ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across departments
  • High level of organization, follow-through, and operational discipline
  • Experience managing safety initiatives across multiple states and locations
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards, incident management, and risk mitigation practices
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective action plans
  • Ability to travel frequently to operational sites

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive EH&S leadership experience
  • 5+ years supporting multi-site operations across multiple states
  • Experience in retail, restaurant, automotive service, hospitality, car wash, manufacturing, logistics, or other high-volume operational environments strongly preferred

Preferred Certifications

  • CSP – Certified Safety Professional
  • ASP – Associate Safety Professional
  • CHST – Construction Health & Safety Technician
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent advanced OSHA training

(Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.)
